A continuance of dialogues with a sage who did not see himself as a sage, but others did; from Brian K. Wilcox. "Meetings with an Anonymous Sage."
* * *
A first-time visitor to the sage asked...
How does an enlightened being experience the world?
To this, the sage replied...
Raindrops falling on a tin roof splash... splash... splash... pitter-patter... pitter-patter... pitter-patter... spatter... spatter... spatter...
* * *
On another occasion the sage was asked...
What is an enlightened person like?
Said the sage...
There has never been an enlightened person even as there has never been an unenlightened person ~ no one, in fact, has been able to locate a person if you find one please let me know you will be the first
* * *
"What would, to you, best describe enlightenment?," one inquired of the sage.
The sage did not say anything for a couple of minutes, then he heard, "Are you going to reply to my question?"
The sage said, "I have been replying, but you have not been listening in the right place."
* * *
A friend asked the sage, "Do you consider yourself enlightened?"
Said the sage... The Sun appeared in the Sky this morning so beautiful! so beautiful!
